Contemporary piano enthusiasts, rejoice! This month, I’ve created a 30-minute playlist of tracks from some of my favorites including Jim Brickman, Michael Silverman, Yiruma, Brian Crain and Ludovico Einaudi. Majority of the pieces are set in major keys, so it’s perfect for those feel-good and soothing moments.
Ludovico Einaudi‘s compositions have a way of tugging at a listener’s heartstrings. This piece, Nuvole Bianche, was featured in the film Insidious (2010).
“I was once told that the word ‘passion’ comes from the Latin word ‘suffering,’ and because of the ability to suffer, we are able to retain the ability to enjoy and love. Both meanings of ‘passion’ serve as an essence to my appreciation for music, more specifically, the piano. I suffer because I slave over the technical parts of the piano and I love it because of the beautiful sounds and melodies that I can create with the piano.”
I wrote the statement above in a paper for high school. What amazes me is how after so many years, this message holds true now. This comment can be made about any one’s hobby or passion. It’s a message to keep in mind when you’re determined to be great at something.
