And just like that we find ourselves at the edge of 2015.
It’s been a fantastic year, especially for music. And I’m not talking about mainstream/Top 40s, though I do love that we’ve all converted into Beliebers and Selena Gomez fans. Side note – have you seen Selena Gomez’s Hands to Myself video? Hot damn.
Some of the lesser-known deep house/chill artists and tunes I’ve discovered this year have helped me solidify my adult music identity – what I crave and what I expect in music as it applies to various situations in everyday modern life. It’s given me hope that good music will be around for much longer. Thank God for SoundCloud and Spotify for enhancing music discovery and portability.
While some of the artists I’m referring to have been around for a while, I’m glad I discovered them in 2015. A few of these musicians include Flight Facilities, Galimatias & Alina Baraz, Snakehips and Satin Jackets. I’m fortunate enough to say that I saw Satin Jackets with Le Youth in San Francisco at Mezzanine earlier this year. If you have a chance to see them, DO IT. They know how to deliver and win over the crowd.
For your enjoyment and my nostalgia, I present to you a playlist of my 2015 music favorites (chill and deep house). Enjoy!
